| News Archive 200712.06.2007 For the first time transactions within Turkish Customs can be made via mobile phones, through cooperation between GSM provider Turkcell and the Customs Undersecretariat. State Minister for Foreign Trade Kürşad Tüzmen participated in the launching ceremony for the 'mobile signature' agreement on Thursday. Speaking at the ceremony Tüzmen said the new project was a revolution in foreign trade and recalled that they had promised reforms in three fields when coming into the government. He said the promised e-Customs -- customs affairs allowing online transactions -- had already been implemented. He also remarked that they had fulfilled their pledges to install “n-Customs” and removed deficiencies stemming from human error. Tüzmen stated that the last program to be created, m-Customs, will allow mobile control of Customs transactions. “I want Turkish Customs to set the pace, and this project will allow them to do that,” he said. Turkcell General Manager Süreyya Ciliv said Customs procedures can be completed with a special password that will be given to Turkcell subscribers. Ciliv said the password will be considered equivalent to the applicant’s signature. The new project was launched after Turkcell’s negotiations with five banks at the beginning of February. The mobile signature project will first be implemented at Customs offices. Source: Today's Zaman In 2007, Valimo delivered a complete mobile signature service infrastructure to Turkcell.
