Mobitel, the leading mobile operator in Slovenia with over 70% market share, deploys Valimo Validator – MSSP to support eBanking, eGovernment, and other e-service offering including services under Mobitel's mobile portal ‘Planet’.

Valimo Validator – MSSP enables Mobitel to provide mobile signature services.

A mobile signature is the equivalent of a conventional, legally binding signature on a paper contract. In that respect, the mobile phone can be considered as a signing tool - the electronic equivalent of a pen. The combination of the subscribers’ own SIM card and a personal Signing PIN to generate a mobile signature enables the highest available level of security while maintaining excellent usability.

“We have selected Valimo on their merits of being the best-of-breed solution for ensuring a successful mobile signature service launch.” says, Marko Jagodic from Mobitel, “And deploying Valimo Validator – MSSP allows us to use multiple CAs for certifying our customer base. In addition, Valimo Validator – MSSP has been built to ensure signing device flexibility. For example, mobile operators who want to use both browser-based and SIM Toolkit digital signing applications can use a single Valimo Validator – MSSP. With 5 years of industry experience in mobile signatures, Valimo is ready to support any market relevant signing device as required by a mobile operator.

Valimo products are based upon the ETSI (European Telecommunications Standards Institute) standard for mobile signatures (ETSI MSS), which most major operators in Europe, including Vodafone, have designed. The ETSI specifications are used in a number of countries today. As an open standard, ETSI allows countries the possibility to define their own strategies while making sure that mobile signatures are able to roam across national borders.
