Valimo Validator selected for digital signature handling and transaction management

Helsinki - Finnish security software company Valimo Wireless announced the signing of an agreement with Finnish mobile operator Radiolinja to deliver Valimo Validator server software for user authentication and transaction validation. The Validator software will be part of the Radiolinja’s services, where user authentication and transaction validation is offered as a service to Radiolinja’s corporate customers.

Valimo Validator is server software enabling fast and cost-effective ways to use digital signatures in on-line services. Using Valimo Validator, an operator can offer digital signature functionalities and features as a service to corporate customers resulting in new revenue streams and business opportunities for both the operator and the corporate customers.

By deploying the operator’s digital signature services, corporations, service and content providers, and other organizations can develop services needing bulletproof user authentication and legally binding transaction validation. Typical services include banking and payment services, internal corporate applications, and governmental services.

For an end user this means that, for example, when using a web-based service with an Internet browser, the service sends a signature request to the user’s mobile phone in a situation where the service needs to have a transaction confirmed, or the user needs to be authenticated. At that point the user reads the signing request with his mobile phone, and if he is ready to accept the message he signs it with a four-digit signing PIN. The digital signature is generated in the mobile phone’s SIM-card and the signed message is sent to be validated. The validation result and the user’s identity details are then sent to the service requesting the digital signature.
