Valimo's CEO Jarkko Elonen introduces Valimo PKI solution on CNBC Power Lunch broadcast
Valimo took part in CNBC Power Lunch focusing on innovative companies in the wireless sector

March 28, 2001 - In a television broadcast Valimo's CEO Jarkko Elonen described new service and revenue opportunities using Valimo mobile PKI solutions. Here is the speech in full:

"Valimo is a company that has developed the ultimate transaction security solution.

Mobile phone is much more than a wireless telephone nowadays. In the future it will evolve into a Personal Trusted Device that has the capability to replace id cards, credit cards, cash and even keys – basically everything that a person carries in his wallet and in his pockets or in her purse – but what is even more important, all these certificates or means of identification can be used without the limitation of time and place.

Our mission is to help our customers to increase their revenues by enabling trusted and secure value-added services in the online environment.

Today about 80-90% of mobile operators revenues comes from voice services. This will change dramatically, by 2005 – in 4 years – only about 25% of revenues will come from voice services. Mobile commerce is growing very fast and constitutes also about quarter of the operators revenues at that time.

Valimo’s personnel have excellent knowledge and expertise from the mobile arena. Our key personnel have years of experience from telco and operator environments as well as from large international mobile device manufacturers and security companies.

The high penetration rates in Internet and especially in mobile handsets in Finland have given us the possibility to see where the market is going and how end users are using these new and advanced services.

End customers are demanding both easy to use services and a security that isn’t compromised in any way. Although our products enable vast variety of different services I would like to mention a few that are among the firsts to be implemented by mobile operators, telco’s and financial institutes. Valimo doesn’t develop all of these end user applications ourselves but our partners have significant role in this development.

Stock Brokering and Wealth Management as a whole is one of the most interesting areas, including mobile banking and mobile payments. Wireless ticketing is an application where the ticket to an event is purchased using mobile phone and then the ticket is stored to the device for later use. Valimo’s Validator product family brings trust also to very interesting area of betting and gambling applications. Our products can easily secure all of these services and more."
