Valimo technology now used by RAY for e-gaming in Finland

Gamers can now easily play without cash or coins.

Valimo Wireless, the market leader in mobile signature solutions, has supplied technology taken into use by RAY, the national state owned gaming organization in Finland. At a RAY gaming center in Leppävaara, Finland, it is now possible for the first time to play gaming machines with a bank debit card.

"According to the Federation of Finnish Financial Services (Finanssialan keskusliitto), only one third of everyday shopping is paid in cash. Therefore, we must also offer new payment methods on gaming machines," says Pasi Riihilahti technology manager of RAY.

"Consumers now rarely have coins in their pockets, which has reflected in RAY's revenues. Our study shows that over 40% of consumers say that lack of coins makes gaming more difficult. Casual gamers tend to not play at all because they typically don’t carry coins."

In the Helsinki region, over 3000 RAY machines will be equipped with a card reader within the next year. Balance withdrawals can also be processed electronically.
